Recession, what?
Oh wait, this thing is MADE for the recession. Gotcha. Well, Tata proved everyone wrong. The selling prices of the mini beater is between $1880 to $2770. (95,000 to 145,000 rupees – Or – what we in LA on average pay for rent)
However, don’t get too gitty with success yet. These “booking forms” in fob lish means each “form” costs 300 rupees or 6 bucks to reserve.
A computer will pick at random who the first 100,000 is to get their hands on a Tata (yeah, you see what I did there.)
How to buy a Tata Nano
-51,000 Tata Nano Booking Forms Sold Since April 1
-Customers must pay 300 rupee (approx $6.00) for each form. These application forms are required in order to purchase a Nano. Customers can alternately complete an online application for 200 rupees.
-Tata is accepting booking order forms (applications to buy a Nano) from April 9 through April 25. Within 60 days Tata will announce the first 100,000 randomly-selected applicants to be able to purchase a Nano. Full payment for the car is required with submitted booking forms. Everyone not selected can opt for a refund or get a Nano in the second round of bookings.
-Tata will have capacity to produce about 50,000 Nanos in the first year. A new plant being constructed in Sunand, Gujarat, will begin production in late 2010 and is anticipated to produce 250,000 Nanos annually.
Thanks D$ – go Gujarat!
