One must wonder where this image came from, and if the BMW Isetta was original, or restored, and the image is recent. But who really cares?
*Heart*
The BMW Isetta has had a harsh path.
The first introduction to most Americans came from the infamous
Steve Urkel in Family Matters; and the fact that he couldt pull any girls with the thing didnt help.
We in the US never got them.
A a Europe only model, it has many oddities. Such as;
- BMW Isetta 230 (1955) 12 hp, top speed of 53 mph
- BMW 300 (1956)13 hp. with more Torque, same top speed
- BMW 600 (’56 and on) – The biggest, a tad more power, and top speed of 64 mph
- The Isetta also proved efficient, achieving over 60+ MPG on average with ease. (Prius, WAT)
- The car participated in the 1000 mile Mille Miglia Rally in ’57
- There is a small area under the package shelf, near the engine, where a few short refugees were smuggled out of East Germany
And if you could ever believe it, a 13 hp car, pulling a trailer. Wat.
